Third
Party Assets
If
a Gallery movie contains third party user assets (by the method of
Linked URL),
you'll see an orange "clapboard" symbol in its listing.
When you click on the thumbnail of such movie, before the actual download
started, a "Third Party Assets" alert will come up to warn
you about the nature and contents of such movie. This screen will
list all the third party assets contained in the movie, their originating
URL(s) and the size of the total download. This information is provided
as a courtesy to help you decide whether these remote assets should
be downloaded with the respective movie. (See below
to understand where and how these assets are to be stored and handled
in your system.)
Note
that the definition of "third party" asset is that of any
asset that is not originated from Comixware application itself. While
media files (jpg, gif, mov, avi and etc) are usually save for download,
Yi.magination does not endorse or oppose for downloading of such assets.
You take full responsibility for your own action.
How Third Party Assets are Handled
If you
answer "NO" to the download of Third Party Assets, Comixware
will download the movie WITHOUT its third party assets. And missing
asset placeholder(s) will be stood in at the place(s) of such assets.
See Missing
Asset Placeholder to learn the behavior of movie with missing
assets.
If you
answer "YES" to the download of Third Party Assets, Comixware
will download such assets into your system's Internet cache (where
your web surfing files are normally being stored) and make a temporary
linkage to them. So that once the download is completed, these assets
will show up in your "user" Asset bin (and/or Music Panel)
and are immediately available for your use. Please note that these
linked assets behave just like any other temporary Internet file (html,
jpg, gif, swf and etc) you download everyday when surfing the web,
they are usually save but
are just "temporary" files. That is: you can play them,
compose them or even re-post them any way you want, as long as you
are in the same Comixware session. But unless you save them into your
"user" folder before exiting the program, these files will
not be there the next time you launch Comixware. For saving linked
assets please read Save
section.
